Credit Score Repair – Cable company fight
Credit score success! I consider this one a victory.
Last week I was just arriving home from my job where I work too many hours. As I was pulling into the drive way just happy to be at home and finally able to relax, I see a mailbox full of junk mail. I think all of us get a little bitter to see our time, effort and paper resources being wasted on junk mail. I never met any one that so mentally psychotic that when they open their mail box. Sheer excitement pours from them as they scream “WOO HOO! Junk mail!” I decided to go through it in hopes to find a good coupon or 2. I got a promotional discount card from one of the local companies that negatively affected my credit score. It really got me bent out of shape. Let me inform you of my history with this specific company.
About 6 years ago I had to relocate. I thought this bill was payed in full and I would have no issues. A few years later I found out that for some unknown reason their bills didn’t get forwarded to my new address and my account was sent to bill collectors. Which we all know put a hit on my credit score. When I checked my Free Credit Score at TransUnion, this is what I found.
Obviously I was very unhappy to see my credit score fall almost 80 points. So I payed my debt months ago knowing that even though I payed my debt it still will show on my credit score that I had a delinquent account that was satisfied which is better then my current situation but still one that I didn’t like. After payment to Credit Protection associates, I patiently waited for a month and still saw no resolve on my account. I called the cable company to express my concern to them. They showed me the same “great” customer service that the collectors did. A month after that still no resolve.
So now that your up to speed on why I am very unhappy with this company, we can proceed. I got yet another piece of junk mail from this company that I don’t have the deepest love with. So I thought “I already had a rough day. What’s the worst that can happen if I give them a call? They do nothing again but I will as least have taken some frustration out on some poor manager who gets the pleasure of dealing with me.” This is roughly how the phone call went.
Operator: Hello, Thank you for calling *******. How may I help you today?
Me: Can I speak with your manager?
Operator: Please hold.
Me:…….*thinks*…. I am going to lose my mind if they keep me on hold for an hour!
Operator: Hello sir, Thank you for holding. I will be transferring you to my manager now.
Manager: Thank you for holding. My name is *****, How may I help you today?
Me: I just want to let you know that today I received one of your advertisements in my mail today it has upset me enough to call you. I owed you money in the past. I payed my debts and after months your company has done nothing to fix my credit report which is hurting my credit score. Your competitor has been able to work with me through issues but obviously you don’t care about your customers as much as they do. Even after your customer does the right thing.
Manager: I am very sorry Sir. I will look into this for you.
Me: I would like one of 2 things to happen. Either 1) You can get this removed from my credit score. or 2) You can never call me or send me an advertisement. You are in the wrong and have done nothing to make your end correct. So if that collection stays on my credit report then as long as I am alive, I will never be a customer of yours or any one who has anything to do with you. I will let every one of my friends and family know that you do no care about you customers and I will show them the proof.
Manager: I am sorry. I will look into this and submit this issue to accounting. Please be aware that since this account is several years old it may take some time.
Me: I do not care. I informed you of the 2 outcomes that I would be willing to accept. It is up to you as to which one your company would prefer.
From there he went on to give me some tips that probably weren’t ethical or legal on ways to resolves issues with my credit score. Less then 2 weeks went by. As I find myself doing more and more. I was checking my Free Credit Score on TransUnion. To my surprise, this is what I found.

They didn’t fix my credit score. They entirely removed the delinquency as a whole. This is obviously the best case scenario. It worked for me so I suggest you give it a shot as well.
